Blue Tit Irish; Meantán gorm
Colour; Bright blue crown, wings & tail, yellow underside.
Nesting; Nests in cavity in walls or trees, will also happily use nestboxes.
Habitat; Widespread throughout the country in woodland or gardens.
Feeding; Mainly insects, but will eat seeds and use peanut feeders.
Mating; Early April. In May will lay 12 eggs or more.
Life span in the wild; 2 to 3 years.
Lore; The Blue Tit is a quick learning clever bird and is best known as the culprit in the theft of cream from the top of milk bottles left on doorsteps
